New Group Manager for Cessnock City

Cessnock City Scout Group appointed its first Group Manager this week. Vicki Carter accepted the position of Group Manager and will commence the role from early next week. With Cessnock City being the largest Group in the Lower Hunter District, and the 3rd largest Group in the entire Hunter and Coastal Region, management of the Group was rapidly growing more difficult for the lone Group Leader, Martin Howells.

New Leader for Cessnock Venturers

The Cessnock City Venturer Unit 'Birralee' received a new Leader in June when former Singleton Joey Scout Leader Sue Allen (aka Bilby) was invested into the Cessnock City Scout Group as the Trainee Venturer Scout Leader (TVSL). Venturer Scouts are aged 14 to 18 years and actually help run the Unit with the Adult Leaders acting more as guides to help the youth work towards the pinnacle of the Venturer Scout Award Scheme, the Queens Scout Award. The Cessnock City Unit is only the second Venturer Unit in the Lower Hunter District of Scouts Australia NSW, with Cessnock being the only Scout Group in the District currently running the 4 Scouting Sections of Joey, Cub, Scout and Venturer.
