Your privacy and the protection of personal information is of extreme importance to the Cessnock City Scout Group and Scouts Australia.

You are reminded that when you send us an email or use our Feedback Form your message will be transmitted over the internet. If this is of concern to you then you are advised to contact us either by post or by telephone. All contact details can be found on our Contacts Page.

IP Address Notification

When you use our Feedback Form or Email Page feature your IP address may be recorded and sent as part of the message. This is to help identify and eliminate spam and misuse of these forms and is otherwise ignored. Your IP address is never sent or released to members of the public, including recipients of Email Page requests. Only internal recipients of Feedback Form messages, or the Webmaster in cases of the Email Page function, receive notification of the IP address, which will only be released to law enforcement agencies or the relevant internet service provider where an identified case of spam or misuse has been confirmed.

The vast majority of the public access portions of our website do not use any form of cookie. Session cookies are used for security validation on feedback forms and to track authorised member access to certain parts of the website (forum, etc.). Session Cookies used for validation of webforms expire once the form has been submitted, or at the latest when you close your browser. This website does not use any form of persistent cookie except with the prior consent of the user (e.g. member only forum login).

Javascript

Java may be used for some non-essential and non-security features on our website where necessary to provide enhanced features to users, however we understand and respect that many web users do not want a site that is heavily reliant on javascript. All website navigation is java free. In order to keep our website XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant, a simple javascript routine is used to open some hyperlinks into a new window, such as the Print Friendly view, however if you choose not to allow javascript these links will still work, they just won’t open into a new browser window.

This site does not use pop-up or pop-under windows. Almost all hyperlinks open into the same browser window, except for some links to items such as help files, etc. These may open to a new window to make viewing easier without losing your place on the original page. Almost all downloadable forms and brochures will provide the option of saving or opening of the item. If opened the publication will open into the relevant application. Links on the WWW Links page will open into the same browser window. Links that do open a new browser window do so using a simple javascript (see above).

ChangeDetection

The "Monitor page for changes" service provides a free notification by email every time the nominated page is changed. It is a quick and easy way for you to keep up to date on changes to the site, without having to visit every page each day. When you find a page that you want to be kept informed of changes, simply enter your email into the relevant box on the side menu and click "Monitor Changes". A new window will open that will take you through the confirmation process to register. An option is available for you to cancel notifications at any time.

It should be noted that this feature is provided by ChangeDetection.com and not our Group. If you would like to know more about the privacy policy of this company please visit their policies page.

Our Site Search feature is not provided by any third party. Site Search is provided using the freeware Sphider search script which operates as part of our website. When you conduct a search using the Site Search bar at the top of each page or the Search page, our search engine will scan a database that is maintained on our server and will return the results to our Search page. There is no third party involvement in any way, so your privacy is maintained.
