Quality Scouting Award for Cubs and Scouts
The Cessnock City Cub and Scout sections were this week presented with the Quality Scouting Award. Each year the Quality Scouting Award is granted to sections and/or Groups that meet certain criteria over the preceeding 12 months. The Award is available in 2 levels - Silver, awarded to specific sections that have met the criteria, and Gold, awarded to entire Groups that have met the Group criteria.
This year the Cub and Scout sections qualified for the silver Quality Scouting Award by fulfilling the following criteria:
- At least 6 outdoor activities, including camps each year with at least one at a Scout facility.
- At least 30% of youth attain their Link badge/first level Award Scheme.
- At least 6 youth section councils each year.
- Two Leaders and the minimum number of youth members, and abide by the Scouting rules and regulations.
- A Net increase in membership of one youth member on the previous year.
Cub and Scout section members that were members during the preceeding 12 months, along with their Leaders, will now wear the Quality Scouting badge on their uniform for the next 12 months, to show everyone that their section qualified for this Award.
