New Group Manager
Cessnock City Scout Group appointed it’s first Group Manager this week. Vicki Carter accepted the position of Group Manager and will commence the role from early next week.
With Cessnock City being the largest Group in the Lower Hunter District, and the 3rd largest Group in the entire Hunter & Coastal Region, management of the Group was rapidly growing more difficult for the lone Group Leader, Martin Howells. “There is much more to being a Group Leader than many people realise, and with a Group the size of Cessnock the work can become overwhelming” Mr Howells said.
Whilst the Group Leader remains the head of the Group as a whole, and the uniformed representative of the Group to the community, the Group Manager will take on administrative duties, managing all paperwork related to the management of the Group. “The Group Manager is basically a non-uniformed assistant to the Group Leader, taking care of all paperwork and allowing the Group Leader to concentrate on the Scouting and representative side” Mr Howells said.
The Group Manager will deal with paperwork such as Youth Membership Applications, Adult Membership Applications, Activity Notifications, Youth and Leader Resignation Forms, and will act as the Group representative to the District Supporters Committee.
