Local MP’s Receive Scarves

Scout Groups everywhere rely heavily on the support of the community in order to continue operating, and the Cessnock City Scout Group thanked two community leaders who have supported the Group for many years.

With 2008 officially designated the Year of the Scout, a special limited edition centenary scarf was released by Scouts for Group to present to community leaders. Cessnock took this opportunity to recognise the valuable support that two local leaders have provided the Group for many years, and hopefuly for many years to come.

At a combined night of all Cessnock youth sections, Group Leader Martin Howells presented centenary scarves to the Honourable Joel Fitzgibbon, Federal Member for Hunter and Minister for Defence, and Mr Kerry Hickey, State Member for Cessnock. “Our Group relies very heavily on the generous support that both Mr Hickey and Mr Fitzgibbon provides, and this scarf is just a small way to show our appreciation for the support they provide” said Mr Howells.

In a short speech Joel Fitzgibbon to the Group Joel Fitzgibbon encouraged the youth to continue with their Scouting activities and praised the Leaders who give up their time each week to provide activities for the youth members.

The Leaders and youth of the Cessnock City Scout Group thank both Joel Fitzgibbon and Kerry Hickey for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend our hall for presentation of these scarves.
