Site Help

We have tried to keep our website as simple and easy to navigate as possible. The site is written using PHP and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Pages have been checked to confirm that they conform to current W3C criteria for XHTML 1.0 Strict coding. CSS files are also validated using the W3C CSS Validation script. This should ensure that all pages on our website function correctly with all browsers that conform to current W3C standards.

Our website is rated with SafeSurf and registered as ChildSafe. Further details of these ratings can be viewed by clicking on the relevant logo at the bottom of the left side menu bar.

Our website contains some simple functions to help visitors to our site:

Print Friendly

If you wish to print the page you are viewing you can load a print friendly version by clicking on the "Print Friendly" link at the top right of the page. This will open into a new browser window a version of the page without menu items or other formatting that would be undesirable for printing.

RSS Feed

If you would like to stay informed of the latest news from our Group you can subscribe to our RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed. All news stories appearing on our News section will also appear in our RSS Feed, allowing you to know whenever a new news item has been added. Our RSS Feed complies with RSS 2.0 standards and can be accessed by clicking on the RSS Icon RSS on the top menu bar.

Site Search

You can search our website using the "Search" box in the top menu bar. Our site search feature is not provided by any third party site. It uses the freeware searchengine script Sphider which we have integrated into our website. The database of pages is maintained on our domain by us so at no time is any of your search query sent to any outside or third party.

Monitor Page for Changes

You can use this feature to keep watch on any page, or pages, for any changes or updates. When viewing the page that you want to keep updated about, simply enter your email address into the "Monitor page for changes" box in the left side menu column and click "Monitor Changes". A separate window will open to confirm the page address and email address and give you further information about this service. Our Monitor Changes feature is provided by ChangeDetection, and details about how to cancel or change the monitoring is provided by this company following submission. This is a totally free service and ChangeDetection have their own privacy policy to protect the identity of subscribers.

Activity Notification Forms

Activity Notification Forms (A1 forms) are the forms that Leaders hand out to youth members to let them know about upcoming activities. The form contains details about the date, time, departure point, travel arrangements, expected return dat, time and location, and other details relevant to the activity. The lower part of the form is the permission note that parents/carers return to advise that a youth member will or will not attend the activity.

A1 forms for some events can be downloaded from our website. Events that have a downloadable A1 form available will show a hyperlink to the form in the right hand column of the Upcoming Events list. Clicking on this link will open our download script which will give you the option of opening or saving the file.

The type of file is indicated by an icon at the side of the hyperlink. A1 forms are presented in one of two formats:

 PDF Format (.pdf)
 Word Document (.doc)

You will need Adobe Reader to view PDF format files, and Microsoft Word to view Word Document files. All files are checked for viruses prior to upload however we can not guarantee that files are 100% virus free so you should always ensure that you have an up-to-date virus scanner operating at all times.
